Behind the MIAMs and family mediation sessions, is our dynamic team of non-executive directors. In this blog post, we introduce you to Julie Farrell. Here you can read about her extensive experience in the field of mediation and the skills she brings to Direct Mediation Services. Julie is an accredited mediator, Professional Practice Consultant, Restorative Justice Facilitator, Conflict Coach and Trainer.

Team

Julie has been a full-time mediator, professional practice consultant and trainer for over 12 years. She is registered with the Civil Mediation Council and a member / board director of the College of Mediators.

She has mediated on hundreds of cases over the past twelve years. She is trained in Interpersonal, Civil & Commercial, Workplace, SEND’s and Family with Child Mediation. She is a Restorative Justice practitioner and delivers conflict coaching to individuals enabling them to develop strategies that can help to transform their conflict and change perspectives. She delivers neighbourhood conferences on behalf of local authorities supporting community cohesion.

Julie is a partner in Solution Talk LLP, which specialises in mediation, restorative justice conflict coaching and training services. Prior to this, she worked within a local authority mediation service; managing casework & referrals, supervising over 40 active volunteer mediators as well as being instrumental in the continuous professional development the mediators within the service.

Julie is a PTTL’S certified trainer and has been delivering training in mediation, communication & conflict management, solution focused approaches and restorative justice since 2007. She has actively contributed to the development of training workshops, with a key focus on continuous improvement and high-quality delivery ensuring delegates are engaged in active learning.

As well as volunteering her time as a director on the College of Mediators board, she is actively involved in the North West and Midlands Mediator Networks, delivering workshops and mediation practice supervision to its members.
